Evil Dead Chainsaw. Completed.
This is a working Evil Dead Chainsaw prop styled after the famed weapon-of-choice for Ash Williams, the protagonist in The Evil Dead film franchise. Built completely from scratch, this prop uses a wood frame construction coupled with a 12-volt power system that operates the chain.
Exploded parts view illustrating all the custom components that went into this build. Very few “off the shelf” parts were used. Everything from the chain bar to housing were built from scratch.
Final weathered saw showing details on pull-start assembly. Note the two handles, fuel & oil caps, power switch (working), and arm opening, Inside there is a handle trigger switch to run the chain.
Assembled prop prior to weathering. The build was designed for service, with all components easily removable for repair or modification.
Detail showing chain assembly. A bicycle chain was used instead of a real chainsaw chain for safety. The prop is “con-safe” and can be worn at conventions.
