Router Table Insert. 2020. J Robert Clark. Industrial Tool. Powder-coated Aluminum, Plywood, acrylic, with steel hardware.

Actual size: 12”x27”x3”

Router Table Insert. Completed. Pictured installed on JET JWTS-10 table saw.

A router table insert for table saws is an excellent way to economize space. Instead of a stand-alone table, the insert utilizes the existing real estate of the table saw. My 100% custom-built version is constructed from Baltic birch plywood for the frame and powder-coated aluminum for the top. The insert uses the table saw’s fence as the guide. The router mounts underneath and is attached to the insert using the router’s base.

Detail showing router bit protruding through table. The height (depth of cut) is adjustable from below.

The frame is 27” wide, matching the width of the saw’s deck. The acrylic covers a dust collection box (router attaches on the left).
